After watching the video Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us made by Michael Wesch many things came to my attention; things that matter to me personally, but also things that matter to education, and even things that matter to the entire world. Thinking on a small scale of how the topics discussed in the video effect me, I would say that it mainly affects the way I will write for the rest of my life, it means that I will most likely do a lot of typing because it is much easier to edit and revise than written work. Looking on a larger scale of how the topics in the video effect education there are two major issues. First, class rooms need to be a twenty-first century learning environment, using laptops; so that kids can type rather than write and can edit and revise they’re work. Looking on an even bigger scale of how the topics in the video effect the entire world there is one thing that matters. This is that written work may be in the past and typing work on the computer will soon become the primary way to write. Michael Wesch may have only made a four minute and thirty-two second video but the messages and topics of the video matter to me, education, and even the entire world.

After reading the article Dear Denver Post - You're the Disappointment by Karl Fisch I realized that the topics discussed in the article are extremely important not only to myself, but to education, and the world. This article is very important to me because I am a frequent reader of The Denver post, and if the information I am reading is false then I am being misinformed. This article also matters to education because schools need to have opportunities for kids to get involved in fun sports and other activities. This way school will not be the disappointment that The Denver Post makes it out to be. Finally, the topics in this article matter to the whole world, this is because Fisch proves newspapers can print false and bias information. This will mislead people worldwide if every day they read fake stories and one sided arguments. The article Footprints in the Digital Age by Will Richardson made me aware of how important leaving a positive digital footprint is to me,education and the world. Digital footprints are important to me, education and the world. Leaving a positive foot print is important to me because it will help me get into the college of my choice. In the modern age many colleges use digital footprints to decide whether to accept someone to their school, so accordingly I must have a positive digital footprint to make my application standout and demonstrate my unique capabilities to the admissions staff. Digital foot prints also matter to education. This is because a school can use a student’s digital footprint to gain background knowledge about a student and, if the school recognizes something special could accept the student to their school or even offer them a scholarship. Digital foot prints matter to the world because people who have positive digital foot prints are more likely to get into a good college and therefore get a better job. So when it comes time for you to apply to college what will your digital foot print look like?

After reading the Denver Post news article Early morning shooting reported on CSU campus written by Howard Pankratz I feel like the topics in the article matter because school need to have better security. The article maters to me because I go to a school where I feel very safe and protected so it is scary to think that people would be able to harm me while I am at school. The article matters to education because it shows that this scary event can happen. It may make educational facilities want to have more protection and security. This article is also important to the world because more events like this may happen and precautions need to be taken in order to stop evens like this from happening across the globe.

Is Google Making us Stupid?

In the past people would have to go to a library and research through piles and piles of books just to find enough information to write an essay for school, but today during the twenty first century a quick Google search can find all the information you need in a moment.  Is Google Making us Stupid?, an article by Nicholas Carr, discuses the way people live during the modern age.  The article states that the way people think, not just the way people receive information has changed.  The topics discussed in this article matter to me, education, and the world.  The article matters to me because of two reasons.  First, it means that I can access information much easier than past generations.  This statement supports the positive side of the subject.  Second, since I am used to getting information quickly and easily it makes it harder for me to focus when reading long articles or stories, this is bad because I will have a harder time finishing long reading assignments in language arts or reading textbook chapters in social studies. The topics discussed in the video also relate to education in two ways.  First, schools need to incorporate more technologies into the lessons to keep kids paying more attention.  This makes them more willing to do homework and in-class work because it relates to them.  Second, teachers need to assign fewer readings because some kids find it hard to focus on reading long books or articles making them less likely to do the work or to grasp the concepts they are supposed to understand.  Finally, the ideas in this article are important to the world.  First, this may be foreshadowing the extinction of written text and the expansion of the web and the information on it.  Second, the computer industry will become even larger and pull in even more money to keep up with the demand for computers so that people can access all the information shared on the web.
